Offering support to parents, teachers, and schools so they can more effectively meet the developmental needs of children using the Montessori Method.

About Me

Jana Morgan Herman has been teaching, training, and presenting in Montessori education for over 30 years, working with teachers and schools across North America and Asia. She holds a Master’s in Montessori Education from St. Catherine University, is AMS/MACTE-credentialed at the Early Childhood level, and currently serves as National Director of Montessori Education at Endeavor Schools and Director of the Montessori Institute of Teacher Education at Endeavor (MITEE).
Jana is a published author whose work spans Montessori scholarship and literary writing. Her transcriptions of Maria Montessori’s 1946 India Lectures — Book 1: Practical Life, an Amazon bestseller, and Book 2: Sensorial — are available on Amazon, with a third volume expected in late 2026. She also contributed a chapter to Montessori in Contemporary Culture and co-authored the Montessori Parent Coronavirus Survival Guide: Thriving in an Era of Extended School Closures (Trillium Montessori), a former #1 Amazon bestseller in its category. Her articles appear regularly in Montessori Life, where she serves on the Editorial Advisory Board. Before Montessori claimed her completely, she published poetry, fiction, and literary criticism — which probably explains the close-reading habit she still can’t shake.
A sought-after speaker and workshop presenter, Jana brings the same rigor to the stage that she brings to the page, drawing on primary Montessori texts and current child development research. She received the 2025 AMS Impact Medal for her contributions to the field.
Jana’s family has been doing Montessori for generations — her husband, sister, and daughter all teach in Montessori schools, and her grandchildren are currently in Montessori classrooms. She lives in Louisville, Kentucky.
